They can now be purchased online as well in all parts of the country for $249 through AT&T (there's no contract when buying the phone, either), there's a thread about it in the iPhone news forum. So I think that price would be very optimistic, as anyone on here could get one for $249 and have it unlocked in twenty minutes.
Also, if it's a refurb, why does it come in the packaging for new phones? IIRC, refurb iPhones come in brown boxes...

It may have something running in the background that prevents the automatic sleeping. Check system prefs, accounts, your account, login items to see if it starts up automatically at login. If it does, select that and click the minus button. You can also check activity monitor to see if there are programs running in the background keeping it awake.

These two cards are so different in performance that you shouldn't even bother comparing them. This is much more of a question of do you want a very average card (6600) or a very high end card?
That you would even consider a downgrade just because of a little fan noise is amazing to me. Not a good plan my friend.

It's still Chrome. I downloaded the latest version and when typing a server name to browse on the corporate network, it searches for the name instead. That's a very dumb issue for a web browser to have. It should try contacting it first and if there are DNS failures, then search for it.
Uninstalled and back to Firefox. At this point, I don't ever plan on trying Chrome again. I have tried it many times and each time there's some nuisance.

When I look at the depreciation of MBP, it is much worse than a MP. For example, 2008 models of MP have depreciated by about ~50%, while MBP have depreciated ~75% for similar price starting price point of the computers.

You would have to import the CDs again on the other computer, or you could use software to extract the music from the iPod. If you have the CDs, I'd just import them on the other computer when you get it.

Just looked at the BSE Skin. It doesn't have a hole for the light sensor, would this affect it very much? I think I might go without a screen protector if it does affect it. But if it doesn't, I'll spend the extra $2.

I run a business. I send Excel files to customers. I **need** the files to be perfect, no voodoo at all, no weirdness with fonts or file conversion or print area. If it's even slightly voodoo-istic, I will not be able to use it since almost everything I do with Excel is loaded by my customers on a PC.
To be honest, I think the only way to achieve 100% Excel compatibility is to, well, use Excel.
I mean for ordinary personal stuff I'm sure cross-compatibility will be no problem. But if you are running a business in which you are constantly sending and receiving Excel files, I'd probably just bite the bullet and continue to use Excel.
It may be somewhat easier to achieve good results with Excel than Word though, since spreadsheets typically are less focused on style and formatting.

I second those who like to partition....very useful for test files, OS 9, obviously Panther beta ( but only if you are a developer mind...:rolleyes: ) ......and booting into if your main partion fails....good luck

I have also checked my NIB file ForoTestView.xib, and I am setting the File's Owner class to "ForoTestViewController", so I don't get why the app is sending the "showNextView" message to a UIViewController instance. I believe the problem lies in the way I set up the navigation bar controller. I replaced the template line which assigns the rootViewController for the app. Let me check everything over again, and I'll post back. In the meantime, if you have any suggestions, they are more than welcome.

i've just discovered that quicktime seems to have no channels available for streaming. i used to have npr bookmarked in favorites, and when i went to it, it was gone. went to refetch it, and discovered that nothing seems available. sometimes qt says their channels have changed, and i need to update existing software. but when i try, there's nothing there. does anyone know what's going on? :( i don't understand. thanks

If you're sure it's not the server, then have you tried (after backing everything up) to go through the ordinary checklist, before it comes to deleting prefs (which I fear you must do): Fixing permissions, rebuilding mailboxes etc.?
As I understand you it's the same two that keeps making trouble...? What do you mean when you say all accounts are on the same server, is it 10 differnet accounts on one domain, or different domains all hosted on the same (physical) server...?
I have done all of the above :( I fear also I must delete my prefs. I have my own domain www.macboyx.com, and I have mulitple mail accounts on this domain and they are all on the same mail server.
