how many of us actually care much about aperture...?
Anybody that is a photographer?
At least I care alot, and this could mean a whole lot of improvement for my company.

And for those among us here who speak Japanese, what is the woman saying exactly?

This task switcher is nice but probably Apple used the icons (option 2 or 2222?) because they're more recognizable than some little screenshot to decide which app to open.

The lack of physical keyboard and the fact that is runs on a phone OS really makes the iPad useless for school purpose. I just can see anybody writing long essays on a screen (thumb input) keyboard. Having a real OS takes advantage of already developed software (and stable) and there are tons of them out there for every needs. Whereas an iPad software still needs to be developed. Other things like web research while writing notes can not be done on an iPad. All of these issues a laptop already solves and much more. Any new function an iPad have can easily be created on a laptop.
Frankly, an iPad is only good for is viewing media and even at that its pretty bad. Imagine holding an iPad upright to watch a two hour movie.

so in a way apple has been forced to at least usb3 popularity
i can live with the fact that there are no native support for usb3 on the 2011 MBP - i just hope that there will be TP - usb3 and half decent expresscards34.. and apple do their part by providing the softaware support in the os

At least in my book, in my day job we've used Gateway, IBM, Compaq, Micron, and Dell. Dell by far has been the most reliable. Consumer reports' survey put them on top as most reliable, even beating out Apple, through under support I think apple and dell swapped spots. I don't know how else to define top tier if not "works best". Don't let the awful Dell dude commercials color your perception, they make a good product. I grimace everytime someone walks into my office and says "Dude, you got a dell!"

Having OS X far outways the slight difference in hardware performance. OS X is specifically designed for Macs, and optimized to take full advantage of the hardware. No one that has a Dell, Compaq, Gateway...etc... can say the same thing about Windows. The only way that would happen is if Microsoft came out with a special Intel version of Windows or AMD version. Never gonna happen. I know most of you already know this but I just thought I'd throw it out there again.
Windows XP is optimized for both Intel Pentiums and AMD Athlons. You can include optimizations for both and they will be used as needed. Windows XP-64 is also compiled for IA-64 workstations. Apple might have beat Microsoft with the first consumer 32 bit OS, but Microsoft beat Apple with the first consumer 64 bit OS. You're speaking facts and not justifying them; please, next time at least justify yourself.

The past few days have been filled with tabloid speculation (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/02/16/steve-jobs-spotted-at-stanford-cancer-center/) about Steve Jobs' health, with reports pegging him as having visited Stanford Cancer Center in recent weeks, presumably to receive treatment. The tabloid speculation was somewhat countered by word that Jobs would join other Silicon Valley tech executives for a dinner (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/02/16/steve-jobs-to-meet-with-obama-on-thursday/) with President Barack Obama to discuss technology and innovation in the U.S. economy.

I built a table that links directly to bestbuy, walmart and target (http://kiernanvandoorn.wordpress.com/2011/04/01/where-in-the-world-can-i-buy-an-ipad2-now/) to check inventory levels. it helps, but with very little supply there isn't any good news hiding on the back shelf. And there are horror stories all over the next about bad practices like forcing customers to buy service protection plans just to buy from existing inventory. Definitely my favorite thus far, amongst many excellent interpretations of the challenge theme. The neon glow of the keyboard backlight really makes this pop, and I like the angled composition.

This one I'm not too sure how it communicates the challenge theme (assuredly more my lack of insight and interpretation than the photo) but more distracting to me is the overexposure of the foreground flower. Was this exposed with the in-camera meter? I find a lot of over-exposure problems when using the camera meter, so I usually use an incident meter, or a spot-meter - or else I bracket with a specific intention of some low-value captures. I find that recovering slightly under-exposed images easier in digital than I do hot or over-exposed images. Just my limited experience - your mileage may vary.
OK, my own submission for this challenge. With the utmost apologies to JD, I had to stick with the apples & oranges theme which is what had immediately occurred to me when we set this topic. I've tried to expand on the conceptual interpretation of apples & oranges with some more technical interpretations - a split b & w background, and an over-saturated and high contrast post treatment.

WTF is your friend smoking, they are still there. Unless of course I been smoking something even more intense. A quick look at the spec site on Apple website and looking at my 2011 17" MBP suggest you two needa sober up.
