I have been thinking lately about the CIR and SKIL bills.
Though I did read some of the benifits of SKIL bill, I am not sure what's the reality is going to be IF Skil bill is passed.
Will the advanced degree holders (even in EB3) will get to apply for I-485 immediately. IF not, is it just that its going to raise the number of visas per country. If so, anybody know how much of raise in visa numbers its going to happen.

2) Total EB category visa bumped up to 290,000
3) Dependents not to be included in numerical cap
All of this is good, but lets not get too happy so soon. Remember S.1932? We need to make sure that we keep the pressure on the lawmakers (who are pro-immigrants) not to budge this time in the conference committee. At the same time, we need to try and educate the anti-immigrant lawmakers that we are not ILLEGALs.
Do your bit: Recruit friends to join IV, volunteer by contacting lawmakers etc and contribute. Together we can win!

This motion was defeated by a very narrow margin (5 votes)... and you can see that exactly 5 senators abstained.
So, what this implies that some effort needs to go to contacting fence sitters and apprise them of our views and hopefully, get them to support us.

It appears to me that we should file all I-485 applications in July. Even if the advantage is illusory or marginal, it may be a good idea to file. If your application is ready to go, it should be filed. Regards. Rajiv.

is there any possiblity that the EB3-ROW from Bngladesh become current soon. can you tell any approx.....days. What about in October....i heard that the new visa will be available in Oct every year. Is there any quota for different countries....??????? thanks again

In this case, atleast we know there will be a president of USA, but in case of USCIS no body knows whats going to happen.
about the dates being current, u need to keep on following the visa bulletin every month. If your date is not current then keep on renewing your EAD/AP. Also be ready to do FP almost every other year.
If you feel frustuated join us in the fight.
But if you feel that u have filed 485 and u r all set, then GOD HELP YOU.
Please dont take my post in the wrong way, i am just trying to enlighten you to the world of uncertaintites in which you have entered after filing your 485.

Hello IV Freinds,
I checked my mail last Saturday, got Cards and welcome approval notices in mail. Status at USCIS website still shows all cases pending. I had called my Senators office for follow up week before as processing dates also had also passed.
I appreciate IV for providing this website for sharing our immigration issues and concerns in this long journey.
Good luck to all IV members who are still awaiting for good day to come.

I know that it is possible to apply for H1-B visa and enter after using EAD. But, I am little dubious about using old visa after using EAD, but it should not make much of a difference I think.
In any case, you should be prepared to field questions at the POE for your actions otherwise he may ask you to use AP instead.
By the way, this is the only way one can re-instate their H1-B status after using EAD.

Guess roughly 10K balance, assuming 5k for each individual for a trip for around 6 months in us. This was the reasoning i was using when i took my bank statement.

In case one is using EAD and 485 rejected for some reason. you have 180 days to safe guard one self.

First of all congrats!
My understanding is that as long as the new job/title falls in the SAME O*NET code(lower right corner of your labor appplication), it is considered SAME/SIMILAR job and hence OK. e.g. O*NEt code for Computer Programmers is 15-1021

The good news is that YOU think that the new job duties are 50% different, which may not be the case as per AC21. That happened to one of friends, his old job was at a bank and his labor had a lot banking related words, then he joined a CISCO which is defiintely not a bank so new job duties were 70-80 different (if you compare word to word), so he was worried, but his lawyer said "you were a DBA (15-1061) and you are still a DBA, so it is a SAME or SIMILAR job". He got the GC last year.
Also how would USCIS know that you have been promoted? since you are not changing employer, you are not using AC21 and does not have to inform USCIS about this change. So technically you could be promoted every year still have no effect on green card (unless you get an RFE and USCIS asks for a emmployment letter, pay stub etc, which will show a change in title).
