QGA, Senators and their staff do have my heartfelt thanks. I wonder how we can convey our thanks to all of them in some orderly fashion.
A good old fashioned thank you card signed by some of our core would be the best way to go. I guess we could design a card with the IV logo on it.

So even if you get GC out of turn, I believe the correct thing to do is to return it. Or it can be more problems.

You know these reporting back, reistating the status, etc takes lots of effort, money and time. I hate this kind of things. Why the hell we should pay for somebody's mistake?
On a side note:
If someone returns this kind of mistake-GC, then what will happen to the visa number? Will it get reclaimed and reused or go wasted?

no, it is not the same position. the two positins have 2 different classifications and requirements. the first position (I have LC certified for) is a financial analyst which requires a bachelor degree. the second position is a senior financial analyst (for which LC was denied) which requires a masters degree and it is supervisory position. I asked my employer to request masters + 2 years experience for the senior position but lawyer said that my experience was acquired while working for the employer (while I was working as a financial analyst) so that experience can not count toward the senior position. this was a genuine promotion and not just to apply for EB2.

Q. How soon can I leave my petitioning employer once I get my green card approval?
A. There is no brief answer to this question. Let me explain. The basic premise (or theory) behind permanent residence through offer of employment is that an employee is accepting a job on a "permanent" bases. What does "permanent" mean? Does it mean for ever. Obviously not. That would be unreasonable. But "permanent" also does not mean that you pack your bags the moment you receive your green card. So what is the answer? No one really knows. Each case has to be determined upon its own merits. Normally, I would say working for one year or more with the same employer after getting your GC is PROBABLY enough indication of permanency. Less than 4-5 months is perhaps evidence to the contrary
But REMEMBER, this is just my own guess. Technically speaking, the moment you decide that you will leave after a certain period of time, "permanent" intent is gone. Catch-22 eh? Well that is the way it is.
There may be considerable relaxation in this interpretation because in the year 2001 Congress enacted a law that permits employees to leave an employer even while their I-485 is pending. We do not have the regulations or any detailed guidance on these issues.

You can say to your current employer that you want to try out something new, but if it doesn't work out you want to have the option of coming back.
If they like you enough, they will consider it. How long to leave it active is another question. Lets say you were able to port the PD to your new I140. If the old employer then revokes the I140, are you still ok with the old PD?

Thanks for sharing the info. This part is really scary. I know potential employers are doing it. Can't believe CBP is doing it. You mean they will do it when you hand over the passport and I-94 at the airport and make a decision on that. WOW
more than scary this is stupid. So if someone with same name as me has a webpage on al-jazeera or some other such site, then I am screwed at the port of entry.
Worse, if I dont like someone just setup a webpage or two in that persons name, pledge allegiance to some fundamentalist Islamic group, put a photo-shopped image of him next to osama bin laden, and the next time that guy tries to re-enter the US... bam... Guantanamo bay! he wont even know what hit him.
Would love to see the look on the CBP officers face to see a photo of the person in front of him with his arms around osama bin laden. A Kodak moment.

Not all the members are active on the forums, though they are interested in doing the volunteer work. Even if the numbers that add up after those 30-40 calls is small, it does publicize the existence of the chapter to other members; who most probably will join once they start seeing the chapter stable and working for a few months (think of it as a publicity campaign ).
You guys followup with Paskal, he can help you run a Newsletter to reach all registered IN members. Keep it supplemental to calling the members (and not as a subsitute).
We ( MI chapter) recently had our meet. If you guys are interested PM me. I can provide you more details on what worked, and how we did preparations for it.

This is a first step in the full reinstatement of PP for 140. As USCIS has said before, due to the immense backlog they cannot adjudicate all 140 PPs in the 15-day window but they are in need of the extra $1500 that PP fetches them. This will enable them to get a little more $$ for a relatively smaller 140 cases upgraded to PP which they could adjudicate in 15 days. It also alleviates the stranded folks who could not extend H-1 if Perm was <365 and 140 pending. Let us see in time (a few months at least) how much backlog is cleared as USCIS diverts more resources to 140 cases.
